Smith & Richardson Inc.(“S&R”) manufacturing engineering group, quality engineering group, and in house tool room are positioned to take a collaborative approach with you to  help achieve the most cost effective production methods for your precision machined, stamped, and slide formed parts.  We have a full staff of degreed engineers with decades of practical application experience.

The engineering team leads the assessment of your parts from the minute we receive your part drawing.  Your CAD drawings are imported into our system where they are reviewed for manufacturability on our equipment utilizing state of the art manufacturing process software.  Our manufacturing process software aids our engineers in the quotation process by providing real life simulation of the process allowing for the efficient generation of the program prior to even making a part.   Once we are awarded your business the process layout generated in the quotation step is automatically turned into the engineering master and utilized in our “First Part Introduction” meeting.  This meeting brings together the engineering, quality, production, purchasing and scheduling groups to insure your expectations are exceeded.  This team also reviews all initial production runs to insure all interested parties expectations were achieved.

The highly skilled engineering team is capable of working with customers during the initial phases of product development, making suggestions that can improve manufacturability and provide potential cost savings to our customers.  We strive to employ lean techniques along with a continuous improvement culture to streamline our processes and to provide our partners with the most cost effective solution. 

Our engineering team embraces a learning culture to keep abreast of the latest manufacturing techniques so as to bring you the most cost effective solution.  We attend industry seminars and classes to learn from peers, machine tool builders and suppliers enabling us to be a contributing resource to your organization.
